The Southwest Meets South Florida at Buffalos Southwest Cafe

5761 Coral Ridge Dr.
Coral Springs, Fla
954-757-4500

This restaurant, which is located in a still developing area of Coral Springs, ranks on the top of the list for places to go for a quick bite to eat and a lot of liquor to drink. It reminds me of a steakhouse in Texas with the southwest decor, including swinging doors between all the main areas of the restaurant.

One of the great things is that since they call themselves a southwest cafe, they use a very flavorful array of spices to keep the food up with the theme, unlike some of their older chain competitors (ummm ... Chili's ring a bell?)

However, Chili's this place is not. The food is really good, and prices are average for what you are getting with burgers ranging in the $8.99 mark. The best burger in the house is the Blackjack Burger hands down. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, get the Fajitas, something you can rarely go wrong with anywhere. Here, they are amazing. The one bad thing is that drink, especially bottled beer and shots, can get quite expensive if you aren't there during Happy Hour or don't order drinks from the specials menu.

If you do go there, I recommend sitting at the bar to eat. It's the best seat in the house if you're there to watch a game, or just want something to lay your eyes on while you throw back some Heinekens. Also, weekend mornings the bartender is a short stubby guy, Nate, who is also a manager. I recommend going when he's behind the bar, if nothing else, he will definitely keep you entertained with his wise cracks and witty humor, not to mention his attempts as flair bartending.

If you think you might get lost on your way, because believe me it's out there, check out the website for directions at www.buffaloscafe.com. Here they also list the menu, minus pricing. And hey, if you like the place and have an extra $300,000 to throw around, they are looking for franchise prospects for anyone interested.

Either way, Cheers.
