Pompano Beach Amphitheatre: New Times 2006 Best of Winner

1806 N.E 6th St.
Pompano Beach. Fla.

Voted "The Best Venue for Live Music" in 2006, this place really lives up to its award. Owned by Fantasma Productions, the same company that owns Mizner Park and the Palm Beach Amphitheatre, this place knows how to put on a show.

The acts are always ecclectic, ranging from Weird Al Yankovic to Snoop Dogg to Godsmack. It's an amphitheatre, so everything is held outside with lots of room to move around. It's the best thing because there are no assigned seats so you can get there early, find a lawn spot, and start drinking right away. Plus you don't feel so bad when you're not paying full attention to the band and everyone else is (as is always my case).

Upcoming events include Bloc Party (May 27), The Flaming Lips (April 13), my favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd (April 14), Godsmack (May 12), and Weird Al (May 25).

For more information on upcoming events, check out www.fantasma.com or www.ticketmaster.com.

Don't forget to bring a large blanket to sit on, and some OFF! bug spray because you will be sitting on the grass with bugs. And if you're very light skinned, bring SPF lotion as well.
